Administrative Assistant Handling the boys' discipline, advising the Student Council, and acting as principal in the absence ot Mr. Phelps were the duties ot Mr. B. J. Simontacchi, late principal ot San Ratael High. When Mr. Simontacchi became ill just atter Christmas, many ot his duties tell to Mr. Al Thomson, who capably carried on to the end ot the school year, working with boys and help- ing them adiust to school. Administrative Assistant Mr. Paul Woelz, administrative assistant in charge ot attendance, tinds that it is only about IO per cent ot the students who can not get to class on time. This is Mr. Woelz's sixteenth year at SRHS. where he has taught science, math, and orienta- tion. Atter attending Stantord University and the University ot Calitornia, Mr. Woelz taught at Quincy High School tor two years. The nicest thing tor a teacher is to see our graduates succeed, Mr. Woelz commented. His pet peeve is people who don't take advan- tage ot our tine educational systems. Girls' Dean Miss Florence Abraham, who became Dean ot Girls this year, graduated trom San Ratael High School where she was active in the band and orchestra, Girls' Athletic Association, and Ra Ravas. She was girls' vice-president in her senior year. Graduating trom San Francisco State College with an A.B. degree in girls' physical education, Miss Abraham tirst taught the sixth grade at Salinas Elementary School, then at Corcoran Joint Junior-Senior High in the San Joaquin Valley, betore coming to San Ratael. Miss Abraham's duties as Girls' Dean are to handle discipline problems ot the girls and to be available to all girls in the school to help solve personal problems.
