VIXSS 'Y-7 Qi FRESHMAN YEAR The Senior Class of I947 enTered San Rafael High School in I943, and anTicipaTed a happy four years ahead of Them. To welcome The class, The Freshmen were given The Freshmen RecepTion. As Freshmen we do remember our STudenT Body PresidenT, John Rossi, wiTh his brighT red hair. To beTTer lcnow our schoolmaTes, a Hello Day was held in which everyone goT as many signa- Tures as possible. The dances during our Freshman year included The Barn Dance, ChrisTmas Dance, and The COT- Ton Ball. The Girls' Jinx was given, and much enThus- iasm was shown by all who aTTended and had a good Time. The boys were given oTher lcinds of enTerTain- menT To familiarize Them wiTh The school. We all experienced our firsT formal in San Rafael High School and iT was a real success. lT was called The SweeThearT's Prom. Ed Dillman was elecTed PresidenT on February 3, when he deTeaTed Connie Morey, his final opponenT. So ends our Freshman year, wiTh everyone anTicipaTing The nexT semesTer when we would be THE SOPHOMORESH. OUR SOPHOMORE YEAR I944-I945 The sophomore year in high school and college, we recognize, as did lasT year's senior class, as The one leasT remembered in afTer years. There- fore, lilce The previous class, our Book of Mem- ories has liTTle To record during The monThs of our sophomore year. We reTurned and welcomed our new fall STu- denT Body PresidenT, Don Collins. San Rafael High Bulldogs defeaTed Tam 20-l2, and won The NorTh Bay League Championship. The lasT VarsiTy Championship daTed back To l937, when we Tied for The NorTh Bay League TiTle. We, under The direcTion of Miss Cunningham and sponsored by The P.-T.A., had The SaTurday dances aT The E. STreeT Grammar School going again wiTh inTeresT shown by The sTudenTs. A very successful play was sTaged on Feb- ruary 2. lT was called, And Came The Spring. The reTiring STudenT Body PresidenT Turned The gavel over To The newly-elecTed presidenf, Bill BaglieTTo. ....g Through The eTforTs of Dolores Cooper and Earl WhiTe of our class, who were among The chairmen on The STudenT commiTTee, we opened The Teen Age CanTeen on February 24-Th, which was a very memorable evenT. An enThusiasTic group of sTudenTs formed a music club called The Nu BeTa Sigma . School had scarcely sTarTed when The club was invifed To parficipafe in a counfy fair aT Orland, California. The graTefuI Tumblers were excused from school for Two days for The Tour which also consisfed of a show aT Red Bluff High School and one aT Corning High School on Sepfernber 21. The Tour was The firsf ever aTTempTed by a San Rafael Tumbling Team. The highly publicized Team also Toolc parT in shows aT The lmprovemenf Club on November 5, The San Rafael Milifary Academy on November 26, The Fiesfa Dance aT The U.S.O. aT Sunny Hills on January IO, and Woodacre on March I4. The Team also iniTiaTed The firsT Minor Sporfs Carnival, held on No- vember ZO, l946, To Till The club's Treasury. This show was unique in ThaT iT was The firsT Time a complefe wresfling and Tumbling show was given. From funds realized from The carnival, The Team members Traveled To The high Sierras for a skiing excursion on February I5 and I6. Anofher unique experience happened when Bill Riegelhufh, firsT sfring member and co-capTain, was invifed To Talce The place of a professional Tumbler in The Trampoline acT aT a circus in Sacramenfo on Ivlarch 2I.
