I- Crisis Da he disaster drill of an earth- quake centered in Los Angeles was simulated at San Pasqual. Escondido paramedics and fire depart- ments produced the event in which there was to be a helicopter landing to take the injured away between the band room and the office building. The A.S.B. class acted out the injuries ac- cording to the cross-tag they wore and the athletic trainers sought the injured and figured out what had to be done to help them. They put deceased tags on bodies informing that they needed im- mediate help or if they were dead. The realness of it all brought forth emotions from the participants, and made them think that this could happen. Others spent their time in the water, waiting for the occasional good sets to come in. The more casual group ofsurfers packed their cars up with their most important necessi- ties: Surfboards, wetsuits, wax, and a few dollars they scrounged up, and went down to Baja. Be- fore they headed down the cliffs, they would stop for a couple of fish tacos. When the sun set, they knew that it was time to leave, but before return- ing, they would make a stop at Ortega's for a couple of drinks and of course their favorite lob- ster.
