hether it was Dena Prestin- inzi singing '5God Bless the U.S.Af, or Mavany Lieb- man reading the Preamble to the Con- stitution while A.J. Ashley played The Battle Hymn of the Republic as a trumpet solo, or David Corey, a former Vietnam Prisoner of War telling what it was like to lose freedom, or the com- bined bands and choruses of S.P.H.S., E.H.S., and O.G.H.S. led by our band director, Steven Inscoe, the Constitu- tional Bicentennial Celebration was meaningful from the colorful start to the explosive finish. The Board of Trustees president, Dr. George Reed, had the idea of the Escondido Union High School District to be the major sponsor of the event. Our Assistant Principal, Janice Boedeker, served as the chairman, and the committee was composed of representatives from the city, including Ernie Cowan. More than 1,000 people attended the event, which was held September 17, at the Kit Car- son Amphitheater, which ended with the continuous bang of fireworks. rv,-e9?l pf --flfa if ztflxiss. - QL. . ki,,:,.,. -t ss. Dances What do we need for a San Pasqual dance? Let's see. The A.S.B would have to decorate the chosen location for the event, get music and machines or hire disk jockies, prepare Woody and the Rent-a-Cops to keep sober peace, and ask chaperones to help. Wait, there's more! We need you! That's right! You, your dates, and your friends decked out in stylish clothes, driving in your cherry cars, and don't forget those fast-action rhythmic ceremonial ritual moves! Let's go! The first outside Blue Light Special Dance was great, and thanks for the nominal price, we could splurge for breakfast after. Another outside dance was the Backwards Dancef' which required the girl to ask the guy. Participants of the Homecoming 87 Dance will never forget the spiffy occasion, and neither will the gym, since its new floor took a continuous beating. The nippy Holiday Dance was totally cool, as was the Winter Dance. A delightful experience was sensed on the fresh Harbor Cruise as we danced on San Diego Bay water. Of course the Valentine's Day Dance was just lovely, and again the girls took advantage of the night at the f'Sa- die's Dance where they traditionally asked the guy. Our last, but always greatest fun was observed in the formal practice of ex- pression at the Junior-Senior Prom. 26 Dances
