Ashley played The Battle Hymn of the Republic as a trumpet solo, or David Corey, a former Vietnam Prisoner of War telling what it was like to lose freedom, or the com- bined bands and choruses of S.P.H.S., E.H.S., and O.G.H.S. led by our band director, Steven Inscoe, the Constitu- tional Bicentennial Celebration was meaningful from the colorful start to the explosive finish. The Board of Trustees president, Dr. George Reed, had the idea of the Escondido Union High School District to be the major sponsor of the event. Our Assistant Principal, Janice Boedeker, served as the chairman, and the committee was composed of representatives from the city, including Ernie Cowan.
