Cross Countr 66 his year has been one of the most satisfying years in my coaching career, says Cross Country Coach Will Wester. This year's team members all contri- buted to the proud Running Eagle Spir- it. What started out as an obscure be- ginning, ended up to be a successful season's end and champion team. Part of this effort and success goes to the brave leaders. This yearls girl leaders were seniors-Merrica Scott, Debbie Phillips, and Brook Portillo. With their help, the team came out to be San Die- go's top as well as one of 24 teams. In the boys edition, leaders were-senior Enrique Fonseca and juniors -!'m'd1'E ET George Vega, and s l. Their efforts contributed to a strong end-of-the-year team, which has become an Eagle Trademark. Despite the small problems within teams, all the teams showed great progress. Monica Scott and other Eagles go for it. A Winning Season .aw ' M VM! wr ! Wg!! AME 'ZXXL W' t fr ham, ' uk if ' I . ' f f l: ,L V W ' in M Q QL to RJ Row l: D. Alaniz, C. Engel, G. Vega, D. 132 Varsity Field Hockey I l Field Hockey his was a unique season for the girls Varsity Field Hockey team. They had a chance to see hard work and determination take them to the CIF playoffs. This team stars the strongest team since the glory days of Ann Maier and her Ladies on the early 80's. We had speed strength and most of all talent in every position. Most no- tably Kim Thomas, FmTre'Riffle, and Qeaninv-Thomas were outstanding on the offensive line while Sandy Shi- mooka and Sandy Fu made life miser- able for the opposition in the mid-field. Further more Suzy Kroesche, Gayle Carpenter, and Cece Boehme contained on the defense. And a special thanks to Joann Reynolds for keeping the goal cage for us. She was almost impossible to score on, if she had a shot at the ball it wasn't going in the cage. 6'Thank you ladies in the blue and gold, I will miss you, but I will never forget you.
