Coach Ron Peet led them to the CIF Semi-Finals after a second place in league. Among the players that helped the team were Nicole Main who cap- tured the league singles title with a re- cord of 44 and 0, Joey Dooley and Kim Krug who won the league doubles title. These and four other S.P. girls made it to the individual CIF tournment. A lot of new talent came into the team and ev- eryone enjoyed themselves. Coach Peet adds that tennis is an excellent condi- tioning sport and one that you can play at any age. Things look good for the future said Peet. X XXX I AJ Cindy Hodges concentrates on her swing. Tennis S.P. 27 ' 1 25 ' 2 1 1 Carlsbad 1 1 19 ' 3 24 3 25 ' 3 18 10 24 0 20 4 Led by Coach Karen Berghorst, the girl's Junior Varsity tennis team went to the top and tied for first in the league. Sunday Curtis and Cas- sie Christianson stood out in the sin- gles and Jean Young and Jolyn Ma- suhr made a good team for the dou- bles matches. Trouncing Carlsbad was one of the noteable highlights of the season, with SPHS making a good comeback after a loss the first time. The team had breakfasts, a parent picnic, and social gatherings. Enthusiasm and practice, on season and off, marked the JV players. A. Michelle Miller uses complete concentra- tion. B. Jolynn Masuhr plays with ease. C. Where's the ball? JV Girls Tennis
