DRAMA PRODUCES TI-IE MIRACLE WORKER During the first semester this year, the Drama Club put on its version of the famous play, The Miracle Worker. Mrs. Boyd as director had her hands full getting lines down for the actors, collecting props, borrowing costumes from the supporting Patio Playhouse, and controlling Hannibal, the Schnauzer who caused many a laugh. The first week of performances had to be cancelled, but the show went on in the second weekend of December. The story of Helen Kel- ler is that of a deaf, mute, blind child, portrayed by Sarah Graybeal, who is finally controlled and taught by Annie Sullivan fSusan Binderl. San Pasqual boasts education in the forms of Sims School, special ed., vocational training, and many others. Last year, the senior class of 1985 won 330,000 for SP because of their high scores overall in test- ing. They actually got to help designate where the money would go. According to counselor Mrs. Arner, the senior class each year continues to score higher. This year's seniors were around when pressure began to build for college prep classes. They kept San Pasqual above average in state, nation- al, and regional ranking for the SAT. Ju- niors, sophomores, and freshmen are now required to take specific courses to gra- duate. This keeps students up to par Though districts plan to make a ranking system among different high schools to test academic ability we have only ourselves to look to for higher goals yet And when they do begin the scale SPHS plans to be at the OP Academlcs
