The trainers had members at every game in case of an acci- dent, injuries, minor problems, and even just making sure there was water around for thirsty play- ers. They took some of the pres- sures off the coaches. Head train- ers Amy Loveland and Kris Bur- ingrud admitted the job was not easy. New trainers go through tap- ing, first aid clinics, CPR classes, and practices the year beforehand. During the sports, seasons, they're in the training room anywhere from four to six hours after school, lending a hand. A lot of their work is in rehabilitation for injured players. They make sure the play- ers are getting back in shape cor- rectly and safely. This program is possibly the closest thing SPHS offers in the way of nursing, com- bined with athletic training. A. Amy Loveland shows us good times in the training room. Trainers
