They were formed into three teams captained by Edith Pemberton, Margaret Sharrah, and Sheila O'Connor. After several inter-team meets, Edith's team was declared champion, and its members given numerals. One inter-school meet was held at the local pool November 3, with Mountain View, Palo Alto, Burlingame, and leffersong San Mateo winning the meet. Outranking all competitors was Edith Pemberton, who holds several enviable records: World record in the 50-yard breast stroke, time 33.4 seconds. 'World record in the l5U-yard medley relay, with Betty Lea and lean Kolinski, time one minute, 34 sec ondsy and the same team won the national indoor 300-yard med ley relay in lanuary, 1937. Pacific Coast record tor lOO-yard breast stroke, time one minute, 21 seconds. Third place in Na tional ZOO-meter breast stroke. Next summer Edith plans to take up rigid training in the Los Angeles Athletic Club, and hopes to enter the next Glympic games. Miss Helen McArthur coaches the girls' swimming classes
