relationship which exists
and San Marino High
If there is need for a new building on campus or a question arises about interpreting
a school policy, it is this council which weighs the matter and makes the final decision.
Mr. Elmer C. Neher, Superintendent, and Mr. Walter Dingus, Principal, bring each major
problem of the school to the board.
These same men have served since SMHS was founded, and through these past four
years of rapid development they have continually directed its growth. Their decisions,
advice, and approval have established the policies which you, the Student Body, carry

To the Seniors who are receiving their diplomas of graduation, we, the faculty, wish to extend
our sincere congratulations. You have proved yourselves to be capable leaders and worthy
pioneers during our organizational years. The Opportunity to work for you and with yOU has
been both a distinct privilege and a highly Cherished pleasure. It is our most desired hope
that your educational experiences will prove more than adequate to meet and master the prob-
lems you face.
The books of life are balanced from the daily entries which you make. ln turn, these entries
will be determined by what you do with your initiative to work, your power of reasoning,
your application of acquired knowledge, and the benefit you gain from constructive criticism.
These are the assets with which you must offset the liabilities encountered.
Within your control is the pen of life which will write the closing entry in your ledger. Only
when this balance is shown as a profit can your job as life's bookkeeper be considered
