'KU' ......t..... Homecoming '79 - Success! Homecoming '79, like its predecessors was an event filled with excitement. The princesses arrived in open cars and were escorted to their seats by members of the Key Club. At halt-time, each of the five was introduced. Then, accompanied by their fathers, the girls walked under an arch of sabers toward the crowning 72 HQMECQMING moment. There was a tense pause, and then the 1979 queen was announced. Karen Parker, the '78 Homecoming Queen, yielded her crown and title to Heidi Kilminster. Tears mingled with smiles as the new queen donned her crown and robe, and received the tradi- tional bouquet of roses. Each of the prin- cesses were also given roses, and then the girls were driven around the track for the last time. The excitement of the evening, which was enhanced by a victory over Ventura, carried over to the following night when the dance was held. Although this year's dance was semi-formal and held inthe Student Center, it had been sold out a week before. With a live band, Over Easy and a room full of happy people, the dance proved to be worth its popularity. 1 . The five princesses prepare for their ride around the field before the game. 2.
