This year brought a new coach who was a long-time figure on campus - Bard Salcido. lvlr. Salcido succeeded Morey Claydon who took over as head football coach. Mr. Salcido's coaching task was eased by the tact that he had a nucleus of sen- iors and returning players around which to develop this year's team. Like other spring sports, softball was hampered by the rains. The lack ot ade- quate practice time showed inthe early season results. Going into the league competition, the girls were even in the win-loss columns. This situation fired them up to show what they could do when it came time to Play Ball! in the Channel League season. The Junior Varsity team was coached by Terri Jo Keller who replaced Mr. Sal- cido. This year's JV squad was domi- nated by sophomores and juniors. With the experience gained during this season they will be expected to step in and till the spots left by graduating seniors now on the varsity. 74 f- -f4i--ref--4----HMM SCFTBALL 49 f-M-'f azsssnliaw ,
