Surveys Pro ve Popular . tion of excellence in writing that had earned top awards in prior years. ln addition to writing and editing the material for each issue, the 1979-80 staff put in hours at the printer's doing the actual composition, readying the material tor the press. Every two weeks, the staff, under the leader- ship of Doug Hayward, turned out a paper that gave San Marcos students coverage of on-cam- pus events and issues, together with topics of local and national concern. Among the more popular articles, were the ones that surveyed local pizza offerings and ice cream franchises. , 1. Lisa Wilson and Doug Hayward work diligently on a layout. 2.
