The school year begins. . .classes begin . . .sports begin. . .friendships arise. . .talents blossom . . .futures come to light. Beginnings are usg they surround us every day. They can be frightening at first, but we learn to accept them as we grow and mature. Beginnings are life. 1. The hot dogs served on club day were a favorite among many. 2. Contemplating their prizes are the dating game winners. 3. The Statue of Liberty was one ofthe sand sculptures done by San Marcos stu- dents. 4. Mr. Stoney grabs a bite to eat between classes. 2T 31 41

Q i f '23 Sli one itat lil.lt?i The beginning of high school was something we all anticipated with mixed emotions. When we finally got here, it vvasn't as different as we expected, but the differences were there. No student parking signs, which vve never encountered in Junior High, decorate our parking lotsg tennis classes, in miscellaneous attire, prac- tice onthe courts, and the floors of the PE. lockers are eternally puddled from sophomore swimming. Each succes- sive year, sophomores experience their first shuffle, trip overiunexpected motor cycles in the upper lot, and accustom their eyes to seeing multi- tudes of team uniforms milling about. Soon, however, the novelties wear off, and we no longer think of ourselvesin terms of beginning high school. Instead, vve have moved on to other beginnings. THEME 7
