The American Field Service handled foreign and domestic student exchanges. Much effort was put into finding host families and generally making the students comfortable in their new surroundings. A major goal of the group was to have more than one exchange take place. Tomo Terai of Japan and Beth Carter of New York were the fulfillment of that goal. Other major events were the exchanges with Santa Ynez Valley Union High School and the hosting ofa Tri-Counties AFS conference in September. Funds were raised by selling cookies on Club Day and sponsoring the Spring Stomp. Although response from within the organization was unot too goodw, it improved with the addition of members.
