We sincerely hope that the memories which it records will grow more precious and priceless as the years pass. In look- ing through this CREST you will have both happy and sad thoughts. Here you will see new pupils, new teachers, a redecorated campus, and a new president, whose first thoughts are of us and the school. Boys and girls from all parts of Texas, other states, and some foreign countries make up the student body of San Marcos Academy. Here we are given opportunities to add gaiety to our school life, to promote the physical as well as the intellectual being, to develop a sound philosophy of life, and to further the relationship which exists between the indi- vidual and his God. To play . . . to learn . . . to worship . . . these are our aims at San Marcos Academy. THE STAFF. X WX? 5? UEUIEATIUN MRS. LANE Because of her consistent loyalty to the school and her genuine interest in us. and because her grace, dignity, charming personality, and uplifting ideals have been an inspiration to the entire student body, we, the Senior Class dedicate the 1944 CREsT to Mrs. Alice Lane. Besides serving as secretary to the President for twelve years, Mrs. Lane has always taught at least one class in the commercial department. During the few months last spring when the Academy was Without a president the Board of Trustees, having the utmost confidence in her ability, honored Mrs. Lane by appointing her acting president of the school. Mrs. Lane performed the duties and responsibilities of that office in a most capable manner. CARROLL IIA. I.
