.. .-,, . Wi, 'N' ' ' MM- f .M--f FUTUTG Leaders? Learn the Ropes Friends, fellow classmates, and faculty, l am running for the Student Body office of President, or is it Treasurer, maybe it's secretary? Sound familiar? These are the words often spoken by the many candidates who wish to become part of the Stu- dent Body Executive Council. The posi- tions available vary from President to the Commisioner of Environment, all challlenging and important. How do they learn the ropes? How are they able to cope with the different prob- lems and situations they face? In order to aid and train the Exec- utive Council With their duties, a lead- ership class was formed. This Class was designed to teach the council members how to become a leader in school. It also trained tnem in time manage- ment, organization, and utilizing their various skills and abilities. The Class helped very much, because you will not get half of the work done without that extra hour. You get suggestions, and during the meetings, you vote on different issues involving the student body, com- mented student Body President, Dwight Bailey. Parents and not stu- dents wandering the halls of sLz? All of them looking as confused and lost as they must have looked many years agO on their first day of high school. Of course there were some parents that felt right at home in the halls of San Lorenzo High, like Mrs. Ellie Osterberg who claimed, I had no trouble finding my way around, although I did see more than 'a few confused faces. Overall, I think the evening went well. The evening was planned to famil- iarize parents with their children's daily schedule, to meet the teachers x3Nxxw and to find out what the classes will be covering for the year. The turnout of parents and a few students was high, and everyone seemed to enjoy Back to School Night. AIiS3 Knesek Oh No..Not Again. This is a class a lot of seniors and juniors take, a class that doesn't have a lot of work. The name of this particular class is Inside Work Experience. Most of the time students think it is a real kick back class, but this is only true if you are assigned a teacher who doesn't give much work. l.W.E. is a really kickbackjob, but when the papers start piling up, l just scam over them real quick and give everyb- ody A's, stated junior Eric HOBK. lvlr. Hoffman is a great teacher to I.W.E. for. Although l stay busy through- out the entire period the work is never dreaded because he always keeps me Iaughlng, commented Anna Maria ViCtOl'. The I.W.E. classes are great to take if grades and work give you a real problem. The class doesn't have any homework and if you work really hard you will by all means recieve an A or B. If you think you need an easy class next year try Inside W0rk Experience. Cathy Collier

Well, now you can thanks to the two new computer labs that can be found in D-1 and A-9. With the aid of these new Apple computers, students can revise and edit entire paragraphs without having to recopy a thing. There are advantages to having the new computer labs Now students can learn to be computer literate and the computer printouts are easier to read and look much better, stated Mr. Shoots. ThE students also seemed to re- spond to the new computers in a posi- tive way. Nlr. Shoots continued since the arrival of the new computers, almost no student has failed to turn in their assignments. After writing a request for the new computers to the state, full fund- ing was provided for twelve of the sixteen new computers and five of the six new printers. ThE other four computers and additional printer were paid for by the district Office Division of instruction.
