Life On The BeaCh, NOt All njoy The Sun Ul'Tl,UQl7,UQ, YOU peel the CO V6l'S fI'Ol'T7 VOUI' sweaty body SQUil'lt'il7Q at the powerful beam of SUl'lligl'll' that has heated YOUI' l'OOm to 1020! Good lViOl'f'llf'lQ, well actually 3ft'eI'I700f7. It's 12:50. Maybe in the Summef fl'liS WHS your normal wake up time. However, to some Rebels with obligations to fulfill, sleeping in was a luxury. Every day began at 7:30 a.m. in a cold swimming pool for senior Shelaine Fugat, I worked at the Hayward Plunge teaching swimming lessons and life guarding. I practiced everyday with m y swim team, mentioned Shelaine. Each summer allows indivuals to gO their own way for a few months. .les- sica Bailey heads for Buck- holts, Texas every summer to visit hel' mother and sis- ter. She stated, It'S a prive- ledge to ha ve some where to go. I really miss my friends though. Some Rebels pack their bags for camp. Dwight Bai- ley received the opportun- ity to attend a Boy's State Convention in Sacramento for seven days. It's an honor to be one of the 950 guyS from all of California. I got nominated after the y judged m y leadership, sports ability and scholasticperformancef' Dwight, SLZ student body 1Q student Life president had no problem fitting in. I met friends that I got to know so well over the seven days that we still call each other and write. Jerry Petersen repre sented San Lorenzo H. S. also this summer He was nomi- nated to attend Camp RYLA lRotary Youth Leadership Awardl. Conferences and workshops filled Jerry's four days in the Santa Cruz mountains, that were ac companied by fun. One fun memory was Slave Day. I was highest bidder for this cute girl I wanted to meet. It was worth the S2O. Rebel spirit lit up Stan ult'S a priveledge to have somewhere to go. I really miss my friends though. H ford Uni versity campus from August 9-72. All fOUl' of SLZ Spirit squads went to this NCAXCADA cheerleading camp, One of the four typi- cal days began at 6:00 am. when the gil'IS tried to Wake up in time to get in line for ShOWel'S. At the end of the camp, JV and Varsity cheer took home spirit sticks, an award given for squad unity and willingness to learn dur- ing workshops and cheer- leading sessions. U.C. Santa Barbara was the setting fOr the 3rd annual Yeal'bOOk Summit, EditOI'5 Chl'iS Kelley, Debbie BamfOI'd and Krystal Flores attended editors classes , while Kris Stracner and Liz Edens struggled to understand the basics of yearbook produc- tion. However, the five days weren't all centered around yearbook fundamen tals, Con ederate staffers enjoyed an ice cream social, a beach party, dorm room gags and lOtS of mingling with the other yearbook campers. Most would agree that their summer flew by and before they realized it was time to hit the mallS in search of school apparel But,if you worked, skate boarded or soaked up UV rays all day- It was YOUR summer and hopefully you did with it what youpleased Liz Edens Sh e, show me, Chris Kelley, Debbie B mford, Krystal Flores and Carla C-Earnerltlrawford High School, San Dregoj concentrate Jud: Allen's new yle of yearbook I y s.
