'Wx FQREWORD One of The most exciting events of the past year was the approval of The plans for a swim- ming pool to be constructed on our campus by the shops. As a result, The garden had to be moved to another location. The gardening class decided to transplant most of the shrubs behind D hall forming a new garden. This project required many hours of hard labor. The student body Took great pride and interest in the operation of this school year. Students wore white blouses or shirts on game days To be permitted to sit in the rooting sections. Girls wore white blouses on Wednesdays for the traditional Girls' League Day. The yell leaders and pom pon girls are to be congratulated for the wonderful iob they did in promoting school spirit. On October 21, 1959, representatives from the Confederate Staff took orders for yearbooks in first period classes. You could either pay Sl on the installment plan or pay the complete price. This was the first time the staff has been permitted to sell by this method, and l Think it was a tremendous success. We sold over T200 annuals. I would like to give thanks to Patricia Rimes, associate editor, Shirley Gomes, business manager, Shirley Rife, advertising manager, Mike Kennett, photo liaison, .lim Lindsay, sports, Patricia Mes- quita, features and activities, Don Costa, classes and clubs, Connie Williams, faculty and seniors, Jerry Alderson, index, and the assistance of Pam Roberts, Terry Hensley, Diane Blanchard, Carol Arnett, Nannette Ohlsen, Donna Rowland, Carole Blymyer, and Esther Castillo. I would also like to give my appreciation to the photographers, Bordanaro and Zarcone, for all the pictures and effort needed to form this annual. We, the members of the staff, sincerely hope that you thoroughly enioy reading this yearbook now and forthe many years to come.
