He takes the responsibility of the school in the absence of the Principal, serves as counselor, takes care of the Audio-visual Program, and is advisor to the Student Body. Although he has been here only this short time he has won the affection of the students. San Juan hopes you will be here a lang time and be very happy as leader of our school. Administration Miss Berckhon, as Dean of Girls, has proven herself a friend to all girls of our school and a booster of San Juan spirit. As chairman of the Senior Class Faculty Advisors she plays an important part in all activities of the graduating class. She well deserves the esteem and affection of our whole school. Our A Cappella has been rated by various music critics as one of the best choral groups in this area. They were honored this year by being asked to sing with the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra. This was the first time a school choral group has been asked to perform with this group. They also sang for the Governors Conference and were very well re- ceived. They have received complimentary write-ups in the papers and have received many honorable ratings after participating in various choral meets and festivals, Auxiliary to the A Cappella and Elizabethean choirs are the elementary ond advanced girls' choirs and the boys' glee, which serve to train singers in the technical points of singing, give them a better general knowledge of music, and give them experience. With this background many are chosen to go to the A Cappella after try- outs in the spring of the year. The Elizabethean choir which is chosen from the A Cappella choir is a smaller group which has received praise and acclaim wherever they have performed. This group has also received high ratings in the festivals and meets in which they have participated. Whenever the various choirs have appeared at San .luan in variety shows, assemblies, concerts or operettas they have always been well liked and often called back for encores. The Operetta this year, Brigadoon, was well received by all. The choirs, under the direction of Mrs. Curtiss should go on to reach even greater heights next year. Our fine music department, A Cappella choir, and orchestra, presented this musical with such enthusiasm that it was truly an exciting and highly entertaining experience for all who attended this tine production. The deep lull voices at the choir, the striking costumes, and the excellent conductors and di- rectors were the main factors which contributed to the success at B'igadoon.
