It never cased to be a wonder to the staff how the paper got out on time, but it always did even if the editors had to stay after school which occured several times. The Music Parents Club opened the season with a reception for parents and faculty members. The program was highlighted by the debut of the El Camino band composed entirely of freshmen from our new school. Arlene Dunlap and the A Capella Choir plus the added attraction of Nadine Jansen, class of '45Q made the reception most enjoyable to those who attended. A trip which will long be remembered by the A Capella Choir was the jaunt to U. C. for the Vocal Festival. Seems like old Mother Nature picked that day for torrential storms. Mr. I-login relates with tears in his voice that the next day all he had salvaged from the drenehing was his socks. 9.5- ORCHESTRA LEFT TO RIGHT: E. Huff, M. DcRoso, V. Johnston, J. Rogers, I. P. by the music students. The band was one of the lucky groups asked to participate in the dedication of the new Memorial Stadium. This group returned to play under the direction of Constantin Bakaleinikoff at the C. O. P.-Santa Clara game. In the spring, at C. O. P., our choir had the privilege of performing under the direction of Jester Hariston, noted Choir director who has done vocal backgrounds for such interesting pictures as Duel in The Suni' and Young Man With a Horn. Last but not least, among their many activities was the participation in the Sierra Foothill League Festival and in the State Contest in Berkeley. Late to her stage crew class, they said. SEPTEMBER 25 Oh no, there they go again! I thought they would have worn out the strings yesterday. These are some of the comments heard during those nerve wracking weeks of the ukulele craze. OCTOBER 25 Did you get a twenty year endowment or a retirement plan? If not, Why not? Sounds like this can be heard coming from the Life Problems class. Mr. Hansen has been talking for three straight weeks now on insurance I do believe that that man could go on forever. NOVEMBER 14 There are some proud underclassmen walking around the halls lately. Yes sir, and why not? They are members of our D team, who won the basketball championship. MARCH 16 Everybody went hopping home from school to rest from the horrors of book learning for a whole week. Easter vacation has arrived at last. APRIL 20 Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! This is the cry as we count our nickels and dimes for the C. S. F. carnival tonight. JUNE 8 Tonight we complete our high school life here at San Juan. Never before have we realized the fun we have had during the last four years. I know our fond mem- ories will remain with us always. SEPTEMBER 22 Look out! Oh! another casualty. If you haven't guessed by now, it is those poor Galt players in our first home game. It was a fine suc- cess. We won 20 to 0. OCTOBER 20 We had our first color day today plus a kangaroo court, presided over by the Rally Committee, no less. I Wonder why those girls were sweeping the aisles with tooth brushes. NOVEMBER 17 Old Fashioned bathing suits, bi- cycles built for two, the villain chasing the maid and some good old-fashioned harmony seems to be the fad around school this week. It's all for the Gay 90's Review. NOVEMBER 29 Today we were honored with a double feature program. After an act by a ven- triloquist, we were entertained by our own Nadine Jansen, class of '45, who played and sang a few sel- ections. DECEMBER S Did you see those spooks walking around?
