Although our club was quite small this year, we played a big part in the school's extra curricular activ- ities. Our main project, a drive for old furniture, resulted in a noticeable increase in greatly needed stage props. In addition to this, we helped with many programs and playsg and our speech choir really went over big at teachers' institute. Many of our members were seen at the college auditorium February 23 enjoying Margaret Webster's production of I-Iamletn. A few hardy land appar- ently bloodthirstyj souls returned the next night to witness the tragedy of Macbeth . As we look back, we think our society has had an enjoyable and prohtable year. The most important activity of the year was putting on the annual Hi-Y conference to which all schools in Northern California were invited. Jim Estelle was the District President of the Hi-Y and consequently the head of the planning committee for this conference. Several of the Hi-Y boys went to the Model Legislatures at Stanford and at Sacramento. im Allen was elected Sgt.- at-Arms of the assembly, another great honor to the clull. Several other activi- ties ofthe club were the Dogpatch Drag, our annual dance, xarious swimming partics, and our donating S100 to the World Youth Fund Mr Hoag, our ever faithful counselor, unselhshly gave up many evenings to come to our meetings .-3:11 ..A aw. 4-L..... 43'-gg bl Bolfom Row LH to Rfghf Edwin Hoag Adviser J Allen J Babb B Monroe J Hursl R Hopfry D Durfee Row 2 W Moody C Shepherd J Douglas R Correa B Merrick H James Row 3 V Sims S Kier G Kendrick M Call L Mulch D Richardson Row 4 R Berry C Fisher B Bowen P Youngreen D Wighfman R Lelneke B Daniels l 9 X Q ' J , a V, .X ' . g A Q , 1 t ' a If-' - , pk X -, 5 . Oh! Those aching feet on registration day! But getting acquainted with the freshman girls and making them feel at home was really worth it. Our annual Hi-Jinx was a most enjoyable affair thanks to the capable chairmen and their committee members. What wild imaginations some of these girls have when it comes to outlandish costumes! Returning lettermen Bowen, Hall, Kuykcndall, Youn- grcen, Durfee, and Sims made up the nucleus of this year's A team. This is the first year since the war that San juan has had a well balanced team, with outstanding performers in each event. In their first fling into the S.F.L., the men from Sparta met competition from such typical track schools as Placer, Marysville and Sacramento, plus the annual meets at Lodi, Modesto, and the Cal-Aggie at Davis.
