3 At first thought it seemed to appear that the staff had finally cracked under the strain when they chose The Fish Bowl as the theme for this yearbook. Fortunately ffor the preservation of the staff's inborn pride and dignityj our theme stems innocently from that familiar expression all the privacy of a fish in a bowl . It is the intruded upon, criticized, in-the-public-eye existence of the frust- rated goldfish which seems to correspond to our own high school life. Just as the goldfish finds it impossible to so much as wiggle a gill unobserved, We students also have been under constant scrutiny. Teachers, parents, and maybe a college or future employer have been interestedly Watching the outcome of our timid knock at the great door of learning. Our friends and classmates have been standing by ready to observe and judge us as we entered into club activities, plays, dances, and all the rest of that gay, mad whirl labeled extra-curricular activities . The coaches, teammates, and rooters have all kept an eagle eye on us as we sacrificed late hours and banana splits for the sake of the old alma mater. Ancl so on, every day of our high school years, we are in a fishbowl displaying ourselves to everyone with whom we come in contact ! As we turn the pages of this book and see ourselves, our friends, and our school as others have seen us, we can be justly proud of what took place in the San Juan fishbowl in the year 1949-50.
