Murray, - E ' When we, the class of '49, came back to school this year as Sophomores, we certainly felt like old-timers. Of course, there were new classes and new teachers to cope with, but we soon got back in the swing of things. We then settled down to make ourselves a super-deluxe reputation, and we think our efforts were reasonably well rewarded. We elected four extra-competent class officers and presented the Student Body with a Hop that broke all attendance records. We finally made our way through Mr. Dickens' Tale of Two Cities, and with no small amount of pride saw several of our more athletically inclined Fourty-Niners receive their Block letters. None of this year's school activities went by without hearty representation from our class. ' X Next year we will be Iuniors and upper-classmen, and it is our fond hope that we may bring more glory and honor to San Iuan by being as capable a class as those that have gone before us. CDESLIMEN Lois Fulkerson , Secretary vs . .qs f Shirley Neuman Vice-President Bill Quackenbos president This business of high school was pretty bafflinq to us Freshmen at first. After all, grammar school never included this running from room to room for each subject, or these crazy locker combinations we have' to remember. And all those bells that seemed to mean so much to everybody else were only an- other source of confusion for us. But, of necessity, we got used to all that and pretty soon we found out we liked it! Even that rugged initiation the Seniors gave us was fun, and after our Reception, we knew we were just as much Spartans as the rest of the fellers. Now, we have finished our first year at San juan, and we have accomplished lots of things. We have gone to plays, games, and dances, joined clubs and made lots of new friends.
