This is especially of Highans who with their eagerness for life never: an opportunity to be active. The constant mobi and effervesence of youth is symbolized in this 1 Bellothrough the use of mobiles. V J 623 ?.,a.. I an The Class of 1955 is the first to have spent its en- tire three years in the new hrilding. We are still inclined torefer to it as new , because with a 92 year history, San Jose High looks upon a three year period as little more than a breathing spelll Ben Sweeney Now,however, the breathing spell is over, and we have arrived at a point where we feel settled in this loca- tion. We have already added features that 'll b ' ' ' ' ' stay. We who are remainl wi ecome part of our tradition. We are--quite definitely--here to ng express our thanks to you graduates for having contributed your share to the life of this high school. The Class of '55 will take its place with other honored graduating classes preceding it. Goodbye, and good luck! W Mr . Eberhart, a graduate of San Jose High School, who has served his beloved school and its stu- dents for many years is leaving High this year. Mr. Eberhart has been a wonderful teacher, a cultured gentleman and a poet ofrecognized ability. His man- ner was quiet and unassuming and always gave evidence of a genuine interest in the welfare of his students. Those who have been fortunate enough to come under his gentle influence will remember him as a patient teacher and a real benefactor, for Mr. Eberhart was aclassroom teacher endowed with an unusual under- standing of young people and their many problems. The students, in turn, will cherish many happy memo- ries ofMr. Eberha,rt's ability as a teacher, his delight- ful sense of humor, his attempts to encourage indivi- duals and the inspiration they gained from all his ef- forts and kindly personality. Many of the students' wholesome attitudes are but a reflection of the influ- ence of a real teacher, Mr. Eberhart. Congratulations on a satisfying and splendid teaching careerl And now, Mr. Eberhart, students, teachers and other friends join with me in wishing you many happy golden years.
