Each semesfer The dinner is held for 'Phe girls who have iaken a'H'er-school sporfs. This semes+er's dinner was under 'rhe managemenl' of Gerry Quadros and provided fun and enier- lainmenf for all. li' seems as lhough somerhing new is always happening around SJHS. How many schools have sfude-nfs for bank presidenrs? Nor many! Terry Sunseri became fhe 'iirsf srudenl presidenl' of our school bank when she was appoin+ed +o succeed Mr. Glasson. Ron Vlaslelica was elecfed for 'lhe Spring +erm. During fhis semesrer, we had fhree of 'I'he liveliesf yell leaders a school ever had. They infroduced several new yells and fhoughr up many s1'un+s for use a+ fhe fooiball games. They organized rhe Pep Club under +he leadership of Alyce Lower, head yell leader. The Pep Club, in +urn, planned rhe skifs and card fricks used a'r The games. They spenl' a grear deal of lime marking off fhe foorball sfadium so +ha+ fhe rooring seclion could form an SJ. SPRING MANAGERS More and beffer assemblies was fhe fheme of fhe manager of assemblies, Shir- ley Tillman. Highans saw as many as five assemblies in one week and af leasf one a monf . Highans fripped fhe Iighf fanfasfic af several dances fhis Spring, including fhe ioinf dance Spring, Swing wifh Campbell, fhe Sadie Hawkins Day dance, and fhe quad dance, Twilighl' Hop, headed by Dance Chairman Pal' Bodwell. ln charge of music and drama, Marcie Moorehead made arrangemenfs for fhe appearance of fhe orchesfra af fhe Spring senior play, fhe ASB play and for ofher programs requiring a musical background. As presidenf of San Jose High's school bank, Ron Vlasfelica did a fine iob. He had 'l'he honor of being fhe firsf elecfed sfudenf presidenf, and fhe fask of laying fhe ground work for fhe fufure sfudenf prexys. 'San Jose High has always had a very acfive group of fellows fhaf carry high fhe sporfs spirif all year long. In charge of fhe boys 'acfivifies, Bob Myles planned fhe assemblies and dinners for fhe diflerenf sporfs, and wound up fhe year wifh fhe big Boys' Nighf dinner. Working wifh Bob was Al Sfockdale, presidenf of Boys' League. Nof only are fhe boys acfive Highans, buf fhe girls keep up wifh fhe pace. Under fhe direcfion of Bev Shobe, presidenf of Girls' League, fhe Highaneffes have had play days, inferesfing speakers af assemblies, and dinners. The biggesf fhing of all fhe girls' acfivifies is, of course, fhe girls' iinx. The Spring iinx, The Roundup, wenf over wifh a yahoooooo. Wilbur Dellamonica and Lillian Musachia, as managers on fhe healfh and safefy commiffees, worked for fhe beffer general welfare including new healfh and safefy rules, for fhe Highans, We have gained many advanfages from fhe formafion of fhese commiffees.
