Lois Anderline and Jack Heninger were managers on Phe welfare commi'P'Pee in charge of l1eal'Ph and safePy respecPively. Manager of publici'Py was Ron James: presideni' of boys' league, Al SPoclcdaleg dance commiffee chairman, Laurel SchuePzg manager of drama and music was Dorofhy Ceccarelli, and Carol Fiscus served as girls' league manager. DIRECTORS The Spring direcfors sfarfed fhe semesfer off wifh an assembly for fhe sophs and new sfudenfs. Soon afferward came fhe finishing fouches of fhe Variefy Show, sfarfecl on ifs way by fhe former direcfors. Of fhe proceeds, S300 wenf fo fhe San Jose High School Communify Chesf fund and S75 io fhe P.T.A. welfare fund. The direcfors worked in close co-operafion wifh Lincoln High School during fhe year fo puf over fhe fwo joinf dances, one of which was held fhe evening of fhe big baskefball game. Each week fhe direcfors mef wifh fhe execufive council, which is composed of fhe ASB presidenf, vice-presidenf, secrefary, and freasurer, and fhe faculfy advisers, Mr. Hill, vice-principal: Mr. Williams, dean of boys: Miss O'Neil, dean of girls: Mr. Glas- son, financial adviser, and Mr. Long, acfivifies manager. The council formulafes plans which are submiffed fo fhe legislafive council for fhe approval of fhe councilmen. In fhis way everyfhing is broughf back fo fhe sfudenfs fhemselves and gives everyone a parf in fhe school governmenf. A new plan suggesfed during fhe semesfer was fhe elecfion of low sophomore and high iunior class officers. If was felf fhaf fhe newcomers and prospecfive seniors were being leff ouf of many fhings due fo fhe lack of class represenfafion. Then, following fhe successful B-period, came new and beffer enforced safefy and healfh regulafions. The sfreef in fronf of 'rhe school was marked off for fhe safer park- ing of cars: fhe sfuclenfs -were urge,d fo fake advanfage of fhe free vaccinafions fhaf were offered by fhe healfh deparfmenf here af High. Under fhe managemenf of fhe Spring managers, San Jose represenfafives fraveled fo Abraham Lincoln High wifh an exchange assembly of sfudenf falenf. ln refurn Lincoln presenfed an assembly for SJHS. These assemblies were planned fo promofe beffer relafions befween fhe fwo high schools. Each semesfer The dinner is held for 'Phe girls who have iaken a'H'er-school sporfs. This semes+er's dinner was under 'rhe managemenl' of Gerry Quadros and provided fun and enier- lainmenf for all. li' seems as lhough somerhing new is always happening around SJHS. How many schools have sfude-nfs for bank presidenrs? Nor many! Terry Sunseri became fhe 'iirsf srudenl presidenl' of our school bank when she was appoin+ed +o succeed Mr. Glasson. Ron Vlaslelica was elecfed for 'lhe Spring +erm. During fhis semesrer, we had fhree of 'I'he liveliesf yell leaders a school ever had. They infroduced several new yells and fhoughr up many s1'un+s for use a+ fhe fooiball games. They organized rhe Pep Club under +he leadership of Alyce Lower, head yell leader. The Pep Club, in +urn, planned rhe skifs and card fricks used a'r The games. They spenl' a grear deal of lime marking off fhe foorball sfadium so +ha+ fhe rooring seclion could form an SJ.
