Besides representing the Herald and Bell in council meetings, the commissioner is chair' man of the Publications committee which passes on the editorial and financial policies of both publications. Publication activities included attendance ata number of conferences, foremost of which was tlze annual three day meeting held at the University of California. Looking after the interests of three varied, but nevertheless important departments, the Commissioner of General Activities finds enough work to keep himself busy. Debate, music and drama are represented by this commissioner. Debate and music awards are presented to students entering into these activities. Embryonic actors and actresses are honored by election to the honorary drama society, Mask and Scroll. Not direct- ly connected with student government, but doing valuable work was the Lip Reading Class under the direction of Mrs. Lillian Dorsey of the Departnent of Vocational Rehabilitation. lwvg X QM 19 mms il . is

BUUS HUD GIRLS LEHGUE BUD ROBERTS FALL COMMISSIONER BOYS' LEAGUE DOROTHY MALECH FALL COMMISSIONER GIRLS' LEAGUE BETTE WERNER SPRING COMMISSIONER GIRLS' LEAGUE SAM ALAIMO SPRING COMMISSIONER BOYS' LEAGUE GIRLS, LEAGUE CABINET GIRLS, LEAGUE FASHION SHOW BOYS LEAGUE MEETING IN THE QUAD BOYS' LEAGUE BONFIRE AT NIGHT RALLY Because they touch each and every stu' dent in San jose High School, the Boys' and Girls' Leagues are the largest organizations in the school. Because they represent so many students, they carry on a great num' ber of varied activities. The Girls' League holds a Big and Little Sister Party for the sophomore girls, a Jinx for the juniors, and a Tea for the seniors. Another annual alfair is their Fashion Show. The Boys' League invites guestfspeakers to their meetings, and have plans for a student Smoker. This year the League put on a very successful night rally. Girls' League Officers were, Fall: presif dent, Dorothy Malechg vicefpresident, Bette Werner, secretary, Nadine johns, treasurer, jane Walker. Spring: president, Bette Werf ner, vicefpresident Audrey Backenstoe, Secretary, Jeanne Fischer, Treasurer, Joyce Walker. Boys' League officers were, Fall: presif dent, Bud Roberts, vicefpresident, Lou Collag secretaryftreasurer, Mike Giammoni. They are also closely connected with the finances of the athletic department. Yes-they're the Ones who punch your tickets at the games and dances. Located in the East Wing, the Bank is High's Wall Street. Here it is that all school financial matters are handled. Man' aged by older students under the direction of Mr. Glasson and Mr. Howard, its door each June becomes the Mecca of checking' out students. x Bank oflicers were, fall: president, Mr. Glassong vicefpresident, Marty Taylor, secretaries to Mr. Glasson, Miller, March, Piety, Saviog treasurer, Stanley Miller.
