THE STUDENT COURT AND COUNCIL CONTINUED AS THE EUNCTIONING GROUP ot the student government atter having been in use at this high school tor twenty years. Some may have a question about the ditterence between the Court and Council. They were both comprised ot the same members: the student body ot- ticers and the class presidents and representatives. The class otticers were elected each semester, making it possibIe tor the cIasses to have ditterent representation tor each semester. The student body otticers, however, served tor the entire school year. Mrs. Penacho was Court and Council Sponsor. THE COURT TRIED AND SENTENCED TRANSGRESSORS ot the schooi ruIes. It the detendants were tound guilty, they were given demerits accordingly. For example, it an underclassman trespassed on the Senior Walk or a student cluttered the campus with debris, he was IiabIe to be brought betore the Court. THE COUNCIL WAS OUR LEGISLATIVE BODY. Through the suggestion box, it tried to please the majority ot the students. Thus, all students could have a voice in our student government. THE COUNCIL PLANNED MANY OE THE HIGH SCHOOL SOCIAL FUNCTIONS and okayed class or club sponsorec dances. parties and concessions.
