In order to confuse the juniors, the Seniors had a breakfast in February The Seniors finally sneaked to Balboa Beach March 6, where they enjoyec swimming, boating, and bowling. Among their outstanding events were a tour to Patton State Hospital and a trip to Riverside College. The Seniors were guided by their friendly advisors, Miss Patricia Shan- non and Mr. Howard Beaty. Facing the court is Lawrence Whiting. 1221 The student court and council is composed of the presidents and council representatives ot each class plus the student body otticers. The court tries student cases and attempts to better the morals ot our high school. The council passes the bids tor concessions, dances, and other school activities. Miss Beryl Lawell was council adviser, and Mr. Howard Beaty was court adviser. The council sponsored an RGL. Sock Hop in March that was a huge success. The dance was held in the gym and proceeds were given to the library tund. EVENTS RIECURDED FAITHFIJLLY The Yameewo staff was small this year but each member performed his duty. Meetings were held every week to meet the April first deadline. The staff sponsored a dance after the Beaumont-S.I. basketball game. Sales at football games and at noon in the patio increased their fund. Two trips were taken to Los Angeles where the staff worked at the Los Angeles Engraving Company with Mr. jack Canni- cott on the layouts for the dummy. After- wards the staff had lunch at Mike Lyman's famous restaurant. Miss Wilcox advised the Yameewo again this year. The football team is not all that has won victories this year, The San jacinto high school band has had a taste of glory, too. Bands from all over Southern California enter the annual parade in Long Beach. Our Tiger Band won an honorable mention. Later in the year, the band travelled' to lndio, where they marched in a parade representing our school at the Date Festival. The band entered the contest at San Bernardino, which was one of the biggest undertakings they had attempted. They came from this contest with an excellent rating, which made them eligible to enter the music contest at Pomona. The national sport was well represented for the future, the team lost most of their games, but good late season play indicated a power house for the coming years. Coach Douglas Brown fielded a well balanced team, which had a full com- mand of fundamentals. TRACK Fine all around strength made San jacinto High a threat at all meets they attended, with the team placing extremely well, for their manpower in the R.C.L. County wide track finals. The team lost a close l34-l3l duel to Hemet in an early season get together and placed second in a triangular meet with Perris and Hemet, nosing out Hemet, 96V2 to 92. The juniors, led by Rita Lugo, came a close second in honors. They were beaten only by the seniors. The flashy sophomores, guided by Ioanne Hill, came in third. They show great prospect for next year. Being only their first year, the freshmen came in last, but beware of them next year. Their captain was Charleen Allred, Miss Armida Cassera was the able leader of these basketball teams. The most spectacular half-time was the lighting of the S for the Coachella-S.j. football game. The junior Chamber of Commerce made this feat possible. The Music Club, under the direction of Mr Robert Roberds, enjoyed a Christmas party and sponsored a dance. They have done much toward organization of a swing band consisting of George Mapstead, Frank Hamilton. Gloria Hawes, janice Thomas, Betty Neidigh, Kenny Martin, jim Brittain, Edith Dyer, john Roberds, Glenn Beaty, Marilyn Rhodes, and john Eastham.
