El. 0ll0S0 1936 SENIOR ACTIVITIES The first function of the Centennial Class was its election of officers which took place shortly before the Christmas holidays. The election was very warmly con- tested and produced much excitement throughout the school. The result was victory for Billy Harvin, Criff Vance, Joan Brooks, and John Seaman as president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer, respectively. During the spring months the attention of the senior class was focused upon a brilliant list of activities which included the senior picnic, senior dance, class night, Baccalaureate sermon, and commencement exercises. These long awaited events furnished a distinctive and enjoyable program for the graduating class. The hrst meeting of the senior class was held in March for the purpose of selecting colors, flower, spon- sor, and mottog and transacting other business of the senior class. A very lively interest was shown in all proceedings, and due to extended discussion and lack of agreement, final decisions were postponed until a second meeting where it was decided to name Miss Sarah Cross as sponsor, the talisman rose as the Hower, yellow and white as the colors, and '6To know everything of something and something of everythingi' as the class motto. With these decisions behind them, the members of the Centennial Class went forward with their last few months of work looking toward the days when San Jacinto would be a pleasant memory. .-1 a llillv Harvin Grill' Vance 'loan Brooks john Seaman
