p BOYS ' STATE Patrick Cassidy It was great to be chosen as a delegate for Boys ' State. I learned a lot and had a fantastic time meeting people and being a member of a mock California governmental system. I ' m sure I benefited from it greatly and I feel more prepared to participate in govtTnment in the future. Patrick Cassidy Debbie Whitaker I had the privilege of living in Melbourne, Victoria, in Aus- tralia for three months during our last summer break, as an AFS exchange student. During my stay, my host family took me on a tour of Victoria, a bit of New South Wales, and South Australia. I petted a kangaroo and wallaby, but the greatest was cuddling a koala. I also had the opportunity to attend an Australian high school. The mates at school were really terrific and I made many close friends. Debbie Whitaker Monica Watts Monica Watts will travel to Sacramento this summer as San G ' s representative for Girls ' State. Monica was nomi- nated by her Social Studies teacher and was selected after attending an interview; academic achievements and her abil- ity to get along with others was also taken into consideration. In Sacramento, Monica will learn about our state govern- ment. I TACHIKAWA STUDENT Lisa Good Lisa Good was chosen to be San G ' s representative in Tachikawa. San Bernardino ' s Sister City in Japan. She will visit Tachikawa for one month this summer and stay with a host family. Hopefully, she will make new Japanese friends and come to a better understanding of their culture. Lisa was chosen on the basis of personality, academics, and ability to communicate with others.

EMANUELE MARTINOLI Ciao, My name is Emanuele Martinoli. I am from Milan, Italy. 1 came here to experience a new lifestyle and a new culture. I found a lot of friends and nice people. I ' ve never been homesick and that means I ' ve really enjoyed staying here. San G is a great school and the Spartans are the most wonderful people of all. I thank you for your patience in helping me. Hope to see you again, perhaps in Italy. Arrivederci a tutti AASE GUNDERSEN Aase is from Norway. She came to America through YFU. (Youth For Understanding). Aase enjoys attending San G saying, I have never before enjoyed school as I do here. The main reason for this lies in all tht; fun that is involved in school besides the educational part. It has been a pleasure for the Spartans to meet Aase and have her attend San G. MIKE STOLLENWERK Mike Stollenwerk lives in Cologne, Germany. He came to America for this year through the Pacific Intercultural Exchange. Mike likes the variety of classes at San G and says that they are different than those in Germany. He enjoys the people here, and he plans to return in three or four years. San G wishes Mike the best in the future and we hope to see you again here soon. ■MHK
