We, the class of ' 82, were the first full class of students to come to San Gordonio as freshmen. Being 712 students strong, we had the largest class in the school. Most of the students in our class came from Highland and Serrano Jr. High. As freshmen we had a long way to go to graduate. Graduating was the farthest thing from our minds. We were just trying to make it through our first school year. As freshmen we started the year by electing class officers. Many students ran for the offices, but only four students won. We elected Stormy Voss president. Elected to help her was vice-president. Eddie Myers. We had two other offices; a secretary and a treasurer. Our secretary was Alexis Miller and our treasurer was Cynthia Poe. Stormy ' s first job was our float. We entered a float into the school competition; we lost, but had fun building it anyway. Next we had the annual I.C.C. day. We sold drinks and popcorn in a booth. All the money we made was put in the class fund. We were a very spirited group, and did very well in class competition. As the year went on, we found that we had many fine athletes. Our best achievement in athletics came from our freshman basketball team. The team, coached by John Thomas, had a season record of 11-0 and ended up 18-1-0 overall. During mid-season of our basketball year we had our homecoming. We voted Stormy Voss our Freshman Sweetheart. As the sport season came to a close, it was time to elect our officers for the next year. We elected Lynn Stuart our president, and to help him, we elected Sue Stoeppelwerth vice-president. We also elected Jana Kind and Segird Osorio our secretary and treasurer. As the school year came to a close, we received our report cards. We had over ten students with G.P.A. ' s of 4.0. These are the students who received straight A ' s: Kim Aguino, Wendy Bigham, Eileen Bladow, Douglas Eliot, Kevin Fujinaga, Kami Judy, Kathy Mainey, Julie Phillips, Leah Reiter, and Tara Sneed. As we entered San G into the school year of 79-80, we were no longer freshmen. After we got all our classes straightened out, we had to get our sophomore class together, so we held our first class meeting. We had a great turnout. Our main topic of discussion was any ideas on ways to raise money. We decided to start off with a carwash. Many students participated and we made about S50 dollars, which was far more than we expected. Next we built our float. We had a lot of work that needed to be done, but very little time to do it in. With a lot of help from the Castaneda family, we turned a good float into a great float. Out of five floats we came in second. After the float competition we had our annual I.C.C. day and ag,ain sold drinks and treats from a booth. We also had a slave auction , in which students could buy other students for one day. We made over 40 dollars. As the month of February came upon us, it was again time to vote for our sophomore homecoming candidates. We nominated three girls to the sophomore homecoming court. The three girls were: Alexis Miller, Kathy Hamelin, and Julie Herron. When the voting was over, Julie Herron was crowned the 1980 Sophomore Duchess. As far as sports went, we did exceptionally well as a class. We had many individuals who competed in varsity sports. With as many sophomore athletes as we have, we can look forward to having many championship teams in the future. As we look back on the time we ' ve spent here, we realize that as we ' ve grown we ' ve changed. However one thing that will never change is our feeling of loyalty toward San G.
