The evening was enlivened by performances of the leader- ship and by an interesting halftime. perform- ance by the Band and Drill Team. The highlight of the evening was the crown- ing of the Queen, Angel Beauregard. Something new was added to the ' festivities this year, a plane flying over the field flashing Angel ' s name in lights. Angel Beauregard, our football homecoming queen, is involved in many activities: swim team, gymnas- tics, and leadership. Angel ' s career ambition is to be either a model or an interior designer. San Gorgonio ' s student body congratulates Angel on her winning this memorable honor. 22 ACTIVITIES FIRST RUNNER-UP ELIZABETH YEAGER SECOND RUNNER-UP SHIRLEY McCOMBS HOMECOMING QUEEN CANDIDATES Top Row: left to right — Ann Kline. Delia Hermoza Muniz Hello: How are all of you? I came because I wanted to know the different thoughts and lifestyles of the people of the U.S. Thank you for helping me with all my problems, the language, and other difficulties. I hope many of you will come to Peru which has many special things to offer you. Sincerely yours, Delia Nancy Carr I spent ten weeks last summer in Batio Pahat Malaysia on the AFS summer exchange program. I lived with the Lui family, which consisted of my host mother and six brothers and sisters. I attended school Sunday through Thursday, visited the fami- ly ' s palm oil and rubber tree plantations, and spent four days in Singapore. I enjoyed it a great deal and would like to go back as soon as possible. It was a super experience. Nancy JUNIOR-SENIOR PROM, MAY 1979 .?va?i8i paiir-.a  •. Mr. Palmgren is the advisor to both the yearbook and neu ' spaper staffs, in addition to teaching English 2c and Journalism. These honors are very time-consuming and require a great deal of dedication — so much in fact, that one couldn ' t find a willing replace- ment for these positions. Mr. Palmgren was recognized as The Teacher of the Year last year and is now being distinguished by San Gorgonio High School. Mr. Palmgren plans to retire within a few years (he has been teaching 2H years) — and this is our thanks to him. Good teachers and good friends are hard to come by. [lit a OjO I (_«. A ee 0 ' ] 74 I have dedicated a great deal of my high school daygp wards producing what you see as your high school year- book. Being able to produce this annual was not only due to dedication on my part, but that of many unnamed con- tributors also. Without my close friend. Heather Hellman, I would not have been able to put together such a great edition of the Summit. Heather ' s work with me went far beyond the call of duty, and I want her to know how much I have appreciated all her enthusiasm and ideas. m The other persons in need of commendation are as follows: Mr. Carl Palmgren, f rafl the guidance, the good times, and for being a friend; Mr. Ralph Crowell and associates, for this year ' s pictures; N4s. Jane Parmer, our yearbook com- pany representative, for all your help; Mr. Dan King, for his compassion and understanding; the advertisers, spon- sors, and patrons, for their financial support, without which there could be no annual; the annual staff section editors and my assistant editor, Susan Johnson, whom I have goadedfinto doing their best; to the certain exceptional staff members (They know who they are), an extra, well deserv whanks for everything — your enthusiasm, dedication, -fnr sticking in there, and especially for putting up with thai unreasonable, moody, (yet likable) editor - me; a cer- tain Oracle editor, Karen Bradley, for all her very much appreciated support; last, but most certainly not least, the staff photographers — Jim Vaughn, Niki Stathis, Mike Grave jBti Mr. Rosales, for all their extra effort. The only ones left to thank are the staff and student body of San Gorgonio for their participation in anSi coopera- tion with the 1978-79 Summit and its staff. Without your support the annual could not have turned oral so great. I hope that you feel that this annual is as good as I know it is. I also hope that the annual has captured the Spirit an(i;the year at San Gorgonio — the true measure of a good annual. SUMMIT EDITOR ' 79 368 THE END ' Ouj ' Ua, -y,?
