senior research During the summer of 1982, Annie Chang was selected to help in a research project at California State University of Los Angeles. An- nie was one of the twenty lucky students who were selected out of eighty-nine that were inter- viewed. The purpose of this project was to find out whether the environment differentiation had any genetic effect on puff fish: Cyprinodon Exemaxas, big head and white-fin that were raised in Mexico rivers and coast line. They were brought to Cal State L.A. and bred in a controlled environment for this special project. Her daily agenda consisted of measuring the fish eggs weekly by using electric microscopes, keeping an account of all the eggs spawned dai- ly and controlling the laboratory condition. After all the data was collected she put them in- to a computer. For this hard work Annie was paid a stipend of fourteen hundred dollars. By joining many reserch programs like this one An- nie hopes to get good recommendations to make it to UCLA and major in biology. ln the future she plans to become a doctor. 22 SENIORS
