J osT APPROPRIATE is a theme of modern transportation for our San Francisco State Teachers College Yearbook. Located in the heart of San Francisco, one of the world's greatest transportation centers, our college is sur- rounded on all sides by the marvels of present-day transportation. S Our beauti- ful harbor, guarded by the Golden Gate, is the home port for huge liners in all parts of the world. On the outskirts of the city are the municipal airport and Crissy Field, the goals of thousands of aeroplanes. Railroads leave from our depots for all parts of the United States. But a few miles away is the hangar of the ill-fated Akron, former world's largest dirigible. The huge hangar will soon be reoccupied by the Akron's sister ship, Macon. Even now the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate are being bridged. When finished, these two tremendous projects will give to San Francisco the largest single span bridge ever built and the longest bridge in the world. Tl-I EM E
