The most important feature of the year was the adoption of a new student service system. The customary chairmen were replaced by a new otlice in the cabinet-that of second vice-president. E O the social calendar the class of W'36 added a very successful Iunior-Senior Prom, Ianuary 11, 1935. May Day was dedicated to the lovely May Queen, Bette Chesbro. On November 1, 1935, a very spectacular class day was presented. The program consisted of an orchestra composed of class members with solos, a tap dance, a trio, and cartooning. On December 4, 5, and 6 the class presented Skidding. A march of events began with the Iunior-Senior Prom, the Faculty Reception, and a tea for the Seniors and their parents, followed by Vesper Services. The mem- bers of the class climaxed their high school careers, Ianuary 30, when their Corn- mencement exercises were held. Calvin Gross presented the Valedictory speech and Mass Iwata delivered an excellent oration. Class Ephebians, selected for scholarship, character, and services, were Mass Iwata and Calvin Gross. Ralph Bertell, the outstanding athlete of the class, was chosen halfback on the All-Southern California high school team and was the recipient of the Faculty Award in Football.
