O the one who comes newly to this spacious valley ringed with majestic mountains whose glowing shadows shift with the setting sun, it seems impossible that ideals, high thoughts, and generous purpose could fail to fill the hearts of the laughing boys and girls whose homes and school are cradled here. Surely if it serves no other purpose, the Orange Blossom will bring fragrant mem- ories in the years that follow youth-mem- ories of old friendships, well-done tasks, arn- bitious goals, and visions wrought of fancy clothed in beauty, and after all it is these things made real and actual that constitute Life. Cherish them, and happiness is yours. IANET MARIE MOORLIAN Girls' Vice Principal Sk SF Sk :lf 3? W 'N HILE an education may bring you Q-,N lisp ' X' 5 a job, there is no guaranty that it will enable you to get a job. On the other '5 i' hand there are many jobs that you may fail to get if you do not have an education. The greatest value of an education, however, is found in the joy, the comfort, the satisfaction one has merely in the possession of it. In it one finds a sense of power and self-respect that one who does not have it could not even dream of. When we compareythis value with that for securing a job, the latter becomes dwarfed and sordid. U01 ROBERT L. FRAISHER Boys' Vice Principal

1 T,- HERE is a word to which we generally respond with pleasure, and that is the word vacation. It means so many happy occasions, either in anticipa- tion or in remembrance. We enjoy planning and preparing our vacation trips. Maps are accumulated, many odd assortments of wearing apparel are acquired, travel books are read, and information is solicited from friends, auto clubs, steamship companies, and tourist agencies. In short, there is a host of pleasurable activities involved when we begin to think of vacation. The physical nature of man benefits through such activities. It is better than medicine. Our body takes on new, vigor, we are more alert, and we get a new spring to our movements. The greatest benefit, however, is spiritual. The cobwebs of stagnant thought are swept away, the eyes clear and brighten with new visions, and ourattitude toward life and its problems becomes hopeful and optimistic. As Californians, we are most fortunate indeed, because this glorious state is preeminently the vacation supreme. Every conceivable scenery can be viewed and any climate can be experienced. The finest system of highways leads everywhere from the mountain to the sea, and from 'the desert to the city. And when we return to our jobs, after a well spent vacation, We work with renewed spirit and accomp- lish our aims more easily. HARRY E. Gkoss ' Principal f9l
