Black is : ' selected as the first President. 1 1898eNovember-First ciasses are held in tem- porary quarters above the One Cent Novelty I . Shop on 6th and F. with 91 students, seven 1 1 faculty members, and no crash lists. 1910- 192 I--Normal School's curriculum rapidlyr ex- pands under the vigorous administration of 1 Edward L. Hardy. l921-First crash lists come into use. l921-State Legislature passes act to permit Normal 1 School to grant degrees in a four-year I program. The school is renamed San Diego State Teachers1 College and is no.10nger 1 called Normal.
