HARWOOD Division Chairman The Division of Life Sciences, through the departments of botany, microbiology, nursing, psychology and zoology, is concerned with 'train- ing talented young men and women to meet the ever increasing demand for scientists. A three-year grant of 310,000 from the National Science Foundation to the San Diego State Department of Zoology makes possible graduate research in the effects of radiation on heredity. The life science major offers specialization for a particular occu- pation in the fields of entomology, fish and game, plant quarantine and wild life. With the dawn of nuclear power only a few years behind us the physical sciences have become a major part of our educational system. The Division of Physical Sciences at San Diego State has been growing rapidly. This year brought the completion of a 244-inch telescope which was partly constructed by students, and a sub-critical atomic reactor which was constructed by staff members.
