WILLIAM TERRY Division Chairman The completion of the new gymnasium in February was welcomed by the Division of Physical Education, Health Education and Recreation. The new structure houses three gyms, two swimming pools, locker rooms and offices. New outdoor facilities including a playfield and tennis courts were also completed this year. HARWOOD Division Chairman The Division of Life Sciences, through the departments of botany, microbiology, nursing, psychology and zoology, is concerned with 'train- ing talented young men and women to meet the ever increasing demand for scientists. A three-year grant of 310,000 from the National Science Foundation to the San Diego State Department of Zoology makes possible graduate research in the effects of radiation on heredity. The life science major offers specialization for a particular occu- pation in the fields of entomology, fish and game, plant quarantine and wild life.
