counseling one of the fundamental principles of the junior college is that the best teaching can attain its maxi- mum effectiveness only through adequate counseling and guid- ance. to implement this policy, every student is assigned to a counselor who assists him throughout his attendance here in planning a suitable program of studies, taking into considera- tion his abilities,l interests, and experience. special attention is given to stu- dents who find difficulty in doing college work because of a handi- cap in basic skills, such as read- ing. counseling on problems of personal adjustment is a regular part of the guidance program. group guidance, through class- room experiences and student activities, is also an integral part of the program.
