They have always had a great interest in all activities and have created a lot of school spirit and good will which they have spread on the campus, throughout the city, and at other colleges where they have visited as representatives from the junior college. three of these four hold full-time jobs outside the college while the fourth works part-time. they are the ones who might have had the least time to give, but gave the most. cd custer, has served us two years as editor-in-chief of the college handbook, the scroll, and editor of the fortknightly, the junior college paper, president of the senior class. under custer's editorship the fort- knightly won two all-american awards from the collegiate press, a national journalism association, as well as many other minor awards. virginia pasto has been editor-in-chief of the legend for two years as well as a staff editor for the fort- knightly for three semesters and a commissioner of publications. sarah hopkins has been president of the student body of the night division for two semesters. prior to her presidency she filled minor positions in student government. hal ulrey was twice elected president of the a.a.8Ls. student body, one of these times as overall president of the student body of junior college. he has been successful in teaching parliamentary procedure, and in reactivating a student court where he served as judge. . virginia pasto sarah hopkins and leadership ed custer '--1' hal ulrey 2 VfZ'. f l M dministration -v a-14' TH' administration dr. john aseltine president 3- W- HOU, dcall harry jones, dean walter thatcher, dean evening division a a 8L s center although the junior college is comprised of three divisions and has a scattered campus, the administration of the organization is remarkably b 8: t center widely unified under the able leadership of dr. aseltine and his administrative assistants. ga, gs Y 1 3 r fig ill 'Y 2 E' sk' X, f R 1 N 2 Y' , 1 x ' it F is b f ci: N fl! has N 5' i I Z l 'i ' as - -- , - john hrose john graham lC0l1arfl eim01l registrar registrar registrar a a 8: s center evening division b 8: t center 3. 'during his one year leave of absence he lent his talents to the drama department of carnegie tech in pittsburgh. his drama productions have been highly commended by the drama critics of the local newspapers. . mr. duke lovall is known at the junior college as a teacher of art, foreign lan guages, and stage craft he is known in southern california as an architect of note and has designed some of the s d com munity Qglobel theaters most outstand ing stage settings as well as all of the junior college stage settings for several years. drama front row, left to right: mcdougal, adams, nuzum. back row: mcearthy. fall production power without glory Critic Praises English Drama As Arrcsting By Bruno Ussher Murder mystery addicts will find their cup oi tea strongly brewed in an English drama presented smoothly last night by the junior College Little Theater at Russ Auditorium. Power Without Glory by Richard Clayton Hutton is dark beverage in- deed, and it is apt to be dished up even warmer yet at 8:30 tonight. Last night's preview, however, proved to a large measure, an arrest- ing performance because all members of the cast, directed by Charles M. Newman jr., demonstrated telling and consistent character grasp of the clashing and emotionally cross-bound members in a lower middle-class fam- ily in England. Attitude Changes This is the more commendable be- cause the playwright endows his fig- ures with varying changes of atti- tudes in a generally tense play. Epi- sodes of particular suspense and re- lease were carried through intelli- gently. Lines were sure, there was evident regard for inflection expressive of personality and situations and tempo remained fluid. Scenery Lauded ' A special word of thanks goes to Duke Lovell's supervision of scenic ef- fects, designed by Don Wiggins who also served as assistant director. Outstanding performances came from Dolores McDougal and Terence Garvey. Both young people spoke their roles with sensitive and flexible intensity. Billie Welch also gave plausibility to complex situations. Others entering well into the en- semble were Mary Ann McCarthy, Jean Nuzum, Kenneth Adams and Bob Wilder. A XY is , H in we-1 1?
