Starting off with a I3 to 6 win over Brown, the Sophs were mo- mentarily set baclc by a l3 to 6 defeat at the hands of Chula Vista J.V., but they came baclr with renewed energy to score wide-margin wins over Helix, La Jolla, and Grossmont: closer victories over Pt. Loma and Kearny: and a smashing 40 to 9 victory over Hoover. High scorers for the team were Floyd Rob- inson with 42g Carl Osborn, 36: Rudolfo Tanos, 30: and Cecil Espy, 27.

Down but in no way out: Coach Maley 'allied his team to whip Grossmont 25 to 0. to top Pt. Loma IS to 6. and to crush Kearny 27 to 0. Then came the grand climax of the season with our Hillers emerging victorious over Hoover I3 to 6 and :nding up co-champs with La Jolla, who won the toss to represent the :ity League in the S.C.l.F. play-offs. VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY Our cross country team, the men with the iron lungs and super en- durance, were led into battle this year by their new coach, Henry Wie- gand, and Captain Martin Phillips. The team, on the whole, showed great im- provement over last year's squad and finished fifth in city league standings by defeating Kearny and Pt. Loma. Cut- standing star was sophomore sensation Don Kynard, who showed promise of doing great things for the long distance squad.
