Simian! .E ae Student Legislature. These words sound noble to the little chroniclers, tor it pleases them to Icnow that even as long ago as I946, there was student treedom and representation in the school government. Sorting the tacts on the cards and recalling to lite the past, they learn that the Student Legislature was composed ot all the home room presidents and led during their terms ot ottice by the Fall and Spring vice presidents: those merry men ot politics, Johnny Sword and Don Lyons. The group was a linlc between the student body and the student government-a clearing house tor suggestions trom the homerooms, which were later relayed to the A. S. B. Council. During the year the legislature discussed problems concerning the tinancing ot the Student Union Building, the management ot the cateteria and lunch lines, and the need tor publicity and talent in the All-School Show. Then those ingenious I-lillers, complaining ot the heavy wooden doors which were installed during those days at San Diego I-ligh, sug- gested that the ottending blocks ot timber be lett open during school hours so that no Caveman would be pulverized it a door swung baclc and hit him. This is only one example ot the alert, imaginative minds which those representative I-lillers possessed. With such bright-eyed leadership, it was no wonder that the year ot I946 was distinguished. Its amazing history, gradually being reviewed through old notes, pictures, and tiling cards, is well worth the research. STUDENT LEGISLATURE - FALL Front row, Iett to right: J. Clancey, R. Sowyer, J.
