I he gridmen started with the proverbial roar but were tamed in some measure by losses to Hoover and Sweet¬ water to finish in a tie for second place in the Victory League. In his first year at the Hill, Coach Bill Bailey took over the wheel of the pigskin ma¬ chine and moulded the Castle hefties into a promising aggregation. High point of the season was the big game when the Cards and Cavemen collided for the loop grid crown in the final tussle of the year. The Red Birds nabbed the encounter and the championship from the Hillers with a sterling pass play.
