ANNUAL STAFF Left to right: Miss Bowman, Adviser; Don Carter, Sports Editor; Nancy Hamblen, Editor; Frank Hall, Business Manager; Antoinette Quarforth, Art Editor. Not pictured: Gloria Erickson, Typist. Hi-Y Groups —The four Hi-Y groups at San Diego High School have this year, as in years past, been outstanding in promoting good fellowship. They include the Russ Hi-Y, whose members are of all grades; the San Diego Hi-Y, for seniors; the Gray Castle Hi-Y, for juniors; and the Hilltop Hi-Y, for sophomores. Among the outstanding activities has been the bas¬ ketball league made up of city and county Hi-Y groups and other clubs. This year ' s trophy was won by the Russ Hi-Y. Social activities included hayrides, house parties, barbecues, and joint meetings with Girl Reserve groups, while service projects included the purchase of war bonds, giving of Christmas presents to boys at the Children ' s Home, delivering posters for war relief groups, and presenting the school with a new basketbal l scoreboard. This well balanced program is woven around the Hi-Y creed of clean sportsmanship, clean scholarship, and clean living.— Frank Hall, San Diego Hi-Y President I Annual —Although some schools had to give up their annuals in this third year of war, SDHS produced a small book for the class of January ’44. A pictorial pilgrimage to those spots which we of Hilltop hold most dear provided the theme of the book. Scholarship was stressed in a spe¬ cial four page supplement featuring those senior A ' s on the honor roll. —Nancy Hamblen, Editor ' A I
