1 wizen the mai( comes Girls ' League —The contributions of the girls to the war effort have been numerous. The usual sophomore welcome party of games and songs was turned into a festival of making scrapbooks for the boys of the naval hospital. The library committee worked hard all semester to make gay colored covers for stories cut out of current maga¬ zines for the hospital patients. The girls co-operated with the Red Cross in helping to fill and check the Junior Red Cross boxes. The social service committee with the help of the homerooms arranged to get a present for every boy and girl at the Children ' s Home. They also planned a party of entertainment and refreshments.— Joyce Greenbaum, President Boys ' Federation —After a summer spent at the beach and at Convair, the Cavemen settled down to a semester of activity. The Boys ' Federation netted $146 in an enthusiastically supported penny drive for the American Red Cross. Of the total, $45 went toward completing the Red Cross Christmas boxes for servicemen and $98 was contributed to the San Diego Chapter of the Red Cross. Highlighting the semester were the Boys ' Fed .assembly and the Boys ' Fed-Girls ' League dance. The assembly was strictly a jam session by the SDHS Swing Band, while the dance was a gay affair with the guests in levis and prints. The decorations included a desert island on which many of the levi-attired boys longed to be marooned with the Pistol Packin ' Mama, Marjie Barchus.— Ronald Jones, President RONALD JONES, BF Prexy JOYCE GREENBAUM, GL Prexy
