S6t'l'6fcIi'-'I' Bimini' A ahinvi THREE years ago nearly 800 bewildered sophomores entered the Gray Castlels 'Portals of Knowledge. These same sophomores, although now numbering only 500, constitute the San Diego High School June 1956 grad- uating class. In the fall of 1935, the first graduates of a new junior High School, Horace Mann, joined the rank of a Caveman along with graduates from Memorial and Roosevelt. That year the class participated with a stunt in the first annual Homecoming, winning second prize. Led by Bettie Carr, in the sophomore A year, the class was represented by a green Hag during Blue and White Day. Witli the new junior year, the class witnessed the changing of periods from 40 minutes to one hour. Bob Middleton and Bob Henderson led the class fall and spring semesters respectively. In January several of the boys participated in the annual Boys' Day, and the girls, in May, were active in Girls' Day. The senior B year saw the class, with Bob Middleton at its helm, order the long awaited sweaters and rings, win first prize in Blue and XVhite Day, hold principal offices for Boys' Day, and the student body elect Tom XVilliams A. S. B. president. Leading the class this year were Bob Henderson, president, janet Phillips, vice-president, Ann Weldon, secretary, Harry Miller, treasurer. Many out- standing activities which will long be remembered by the '56 C1355 are the skating party, class play, sport dance, ditch day, senior A ball, gift day, and finally, commencement. Twenty
